About Sharon Devereux
We live in a fast paced world, in sound bites and stolen moments. I seek to stop the world with the click of my shutter. In the spirit of adventure and curiosity, I often photograph the unexpected image or detail with a fresh perspective on what could be the ordinary. Underlying it all is my need for spontaneity, passion and the desire to interact with life, and with you the viewer, through my photography.
Over the past several years, my work in Fine Art photography has been exhibited in several juried shows. “Street Stage”, a body of work depicting street performers, was featured in an exhibit at the Griffin Museum of Photography in Winchester, MA. and was a collaborative project with another photographer. The exhibit coincided with the release of the self published book titled “Street Stage ~ Takin’ it to the Streets”.
In addition to photographing events and assisting as a second photographer for weddings, I have also volunteered my time in various aspects of the photography industry. One of the most memorable volunteer opportunities was as the Curator for the Cultural Exchange Center in East Boston. During the two-year span of my time there, I worked closely with the Program Director, Fran Rowan, on many projects. Of merit, and by far the largest undertaking was the presentation of JazzWeek East (part of Jazz Boston 10) created in collaboration with Zumix, a music and youth development nonprofit organization located in East Boston.
Graduating with a degree in Interior Design, I initially pursued a career as a commercial designer for Boston area firms. Ultimately, during my Interior Design career, I formed a partnership and as co-owner, we created a successful architecture and interior design firm. My background in interior design will always be a part of my life and influences my photography. It is the driving force behind my love for shooting architecture and real estate.
Devereux Photography is located in Salem, Massachusetts.
